So I got around to seeing Attack On Titan last night, just to see what all the hoo ha you young guys are saying about t, is all about ....What a fucked up show. I mean that show is serious nightmare fuel. I may watch more, but only if the other episodes get a little faster pace than the first two I watched. ......Chomp!

Is it a TV show? A cartoon?

I actually found it rather boring and poorly written, and not disturbing enough to make up for it aesthetically. But that's just me.
There are considerably more nightmare-fueling anime out there.

Japanese animation. Cartoon, but certainly not for kids.

It's cartoon from Japan that's aimed towards adults. It's similar to Game of Thrones in that you will get several EPISODES of tragic backstory for a character before they get brutally murdered. It's a fantasy apocalyptic type thing about a planet taken over by giant humanoids that prey on regular-sized humans, who fight back with swords and such.

I did like that instead of some strange creature, the monsters are just giant cannibals. Makes it a little more scary IMO. I like the music on it, it really adds to the tension. But I do agree that the story could pick up the pace a little.

I think the entire selling point of the series was the image of a skinless giant human staring at you. That image alone makes for a very powerful reaction, but I didn't think the rest of the show lived up to the art. It was like someone showed up at a studio with a few beautiful pictures and they just threw it into "generic anime creator 2000" for writing each episode. It all just seemed like a wasted opportunity to me.

Me and my bro watched the whole first season on netflix. It was awesome, but I couldn't sleep. those smiling titans freaked me the hell out.

I'm so old that real things like tax collectors, politicians and food poisoning scare me much more than the idea of giant smiling ghouls. I still enjoyed the idea of it though.
